Panoramic Beachfront Apartment (22

Location: Nambucca Heads, NSW.

Natural whites and natural textural finishes feature in a classic and timeless coastal palette for this historic beachfront apartment.

Original hardwood wall paneling is repurposed as open kitchen shelves, with antique and reclaimed furniture completing the kitchen design. Natural timber finishes reflect the rainforest view from the louvered kitchen windows.

The overall design harmonises depth of character with the lightness of a coastal breeze. Custom artworks by Banksiia Studio bring a contemporary element. The artworks bridge line and form from the spectacular panoramic waterfront views.

Materials: Belgian Flax Linen, Natural Jute, Mango Wood, Reclaimed Hardwood, Recycled Glass, Custom Artwork.

Nestled along the shores of Nambucca Heads, NSW

Where rainforest meets sea, we've revitalized this historic beachfront apartment with understated elegance. The space welcomes you with a whispered palette of natural whites and textural finishes that evoke salt air and sunshine.

We honored the home's heritage by transforming original hardwood paneling into floating kitchen shelves, while antique and reclaimed pieces find new purpose throughout. Louvered windows frame the surrounding rainforest, complementing natural timber elements and offering glimpses of the ocean beyond.

Custom Banksia Studio artworks add contemporary energy, capturing the landscape visible through panoramic windows where waves meet golden sand. Materials tell their own stories—Belgian flax linen, natural jute, mango wood, and reclaimed timber—each chosen to enhance wellbeing through biophilic connection.

The thoughtful incorporation of recycled elements creates continuity with the past, while natural views and materials provide a scientifically proven calming effect, reducing stress and improving mental clarity. The result is our homage to place, history, and the gentle art of coastal living.

Jimmy Possum

Project: Jimmy Possum (2023)

Principles of Critical Regionalism were honed in this conceptual design for a Tasmanian property.

The architectural design of the building responds to the site topography, where the orientation amplifies the waterfront view while considering heating and lighting impacts on the functionality of the space. The glass doors allow heat and sunlight to enter from the east, and open up to an outdoor dining space which is landscaped in Tasmanian sandstone and local native grass plants. A raised fireplace hearth bench extends along the western wall as a multi-use design feature. Referencing construction methods that are culturally linked to this area, form and line applications are inspired by the ‘Jimmy Possum’ Chair; a historical Tasmanian chair design. Regional considerations are applied through the selection of contemporary clean lines, natural materials, neutral textures, raw metal and open lighting, with local materiality at the forefront of the design.

Materials: Tasmanian Oak, Tasmanian Blackwood, Tasmanian Steel.
